Rape of 11 year old girl in Okigwe, Imo State

Network on Police Reforms in Nigeria, NOPRIN, just received information about the alleged rape of an 11year old girl in Okigwe by an Okigwe-based businessman from Isuikwiuato, Abia State. The Victim's aunt told NOPRIN that the alleged rapist lured the little girl- who was hawking an item, to his apartment on the pretext of going to pay her for the item he bought from her. He raped the girl overnight while her guardians were searching for her.

The following morning, the alleged rapist put the girl on a bike that took her to her village where the guardians eventually found her. She's currently hospitalized at Okigwe General Hospital and in bad condition.

The federal government today released a toll-free Rape help line for victims of rape and other forms of violence. its for victims, family members, friends, anyone who might be in need.


The line will be active 24hours, 7 days a week. The number is -08072732255. Its a 12- digit, but it works.

The help-line was unveiled today by the minister of Youth Development, Bolaji Abdullahi, who also named Naeto C and BBA winner, Kevin Chuwang Pam, as ambassadors and spokepersons for the Nigerian Youth and the rape challenge.

Wales Football Manager Gary Speed Commits Suicide at 42

Gary Andrew Speed, the 42-year-old manager of the Wales national team and former Welsh football player (He was captain of the Wales national football team until he retired from international football in 2004 ), was this morning found hanged after an apparent suicide at his home in Cheshire. Police say there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Speed, born in Mancot, Flintshire, had appeared on BBC1's Football Focus show on Saturday afternoon, just hours before his death. He was a married father of two.

Father of three commits suicide: writes landlord, pastor and wife

For residents and neighbours of No 6, Sikiru Rotimi Street, Ejigbo, Lagos, the death of a businessman simply identified as Joseph was a rude shock that left them dazed for days. Although, the way and manner by which he met his death was clear, the reason for his death remains a big mystery to his family, friends and neighbours. The deceased committed suicide by hanging himself on November 15, 2011. Before he hanged himself, the father of three, whose first son’s name is Jeremiah, wrote three letters addressed to his landlord, pastor and wife respectively.According to neighbours who heard his wife narrating the sequence of events that led to the tragedy, the deceased wrote a letter, enveloped and addressed it to his pastor, after which he gave his wife to deliver to the pastor of the church of the zonal headquarters of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministry church located on the adjacent street, where the family worships. The unsuspecting wife left to run the errand. By the time she returned she met his body hanging from the roof. She also met two letters on the table.
